Dulcet

Saturday

Midnight Howl

(Paihia, New Zealand, 2012)

The love of a lonely wolf,
full of secrets and strange midnights-
drawn out of darkness
from forests thick with black oaks
hills riddled with riddles-
that love is sharper than a bed of thistles;
each kiss pares away flesh.

The love of a wolf
can eat you up all the better.

Monday

Nightshift

(Hamilton Gardens, New Zealand, 2014)

And I'm sure you too look back at things
and wonder why you made things so
difficult,
so much harder than they actually were.

You felt like it was you
against the world
but really,
it was you against yourself.

Friday

Honest Gasp

(Lauren, 2014, Wellington, New Zealand)

What do you love I asked her?

I love unmade beds.
I love when people are drunk and crying and cannot be anything but honest in that moment.
I love the look in peoples eyes when they realize that they're in love.
I love the way people look when they first wake up, disorientated, innocent and confused about their surroundings.
I love the gasp people take when their favorite song starts to play.
I love when people close their eyes and drift to somewhere in the clouds.

I fall in love with people and their honest moments all the time.
I fall in love with their breakdowns and their smeared makeup and their daydreams.

Honesty is just too beautiful to ever put into words.
